The Tarrahill wines to be released this year are the 2015s.
The first of which is the wonderful Le Bâtard

As usual, the wines are offered first to our mailing list. There are only around 50 dozen of each of these wines.

Those on our mailing list are also entitled to a discount (5% on 6 bottles, 10% on 12 bottles).
Tarrahill is now a red 5 star winery in Halliday’s Wine Companion 2017 – this reflects our success in having at least 2 wines of 94 or more points in each of the last 3 vintages. We’re still to achieve a red name to go with the 5 red stars, but it’s early days!

Halliday's reviews of these wines can be seen HERE.

Le Bâtard 2015

Our first vintage of Le Bâtard (in 2012) was given 96 points by Halliday and has been so successful we've made another batch!

Le Bâtard is a field blend of pinot noir and shiraz, producing a wine with lots of fruit as well as body.

Any resemblance of Le Bâtard to light pinot noir wines is imaginary - the 2015 is a substantial red, full of beautiful Yarra Valley fruit, but without being too serious.

$25 per bottle.

Le Savant 2014

A beauty! This is a Cabernet Sauvignon blended with a little (15%) Shiraz. The Cabernet was picked when fresh flavoured and ripe, while retaining an edge of the cool climate Cabernet leafiness. To fill out the flavours, 15% Shiraz was added, softening the austerity of the Cabernet and fleshing out the ripe fruit flavours. The result is an "Olympic" wine of great attractiveness, both now and for a long time in the cellar.

Awarded 97 points by James Halliday.

$45 per bottle.

Chardonnay 2014

This wine has not been reviewed yet, but I think it is the best Chardonnay we have made.

It is closer in style to the elegant 2010 Chardonnay (94 points) and vastly different to the edgy 2011 and the exotic 2013.  It is a “traditional Chardonnay”  with the body and mouthfeel of malolactic fermentation and delicate oak. It tastes of grapefruit and stone fruits.

$35 per bottle.

Shiraz 2014

2014 was a very good vintage for reds in the Yarra Valley. The fruit was ripe with well developed flavours. With the additional of a little (10%) Cabernet Sauvignon, the result is a Shiraz of substance with big fruit flavours well-integrated with spicy Gillet French oak.

Awarded 95 points by James Halliday

$40 per bottle

Pinot Noir 2014

This Pinot Noir has deep colour and intensity. It is less oaked than the 2013 with a lesser amount of new oak being used, with the luscious flavours of the Mercurey wood balancing the ripe plum and dark cherry flavours of the fruit.

Awarded 94 points by James Halliday

$40 per bottle.
