Tarrahill Shiraz 2016

James Halliday has given this Shiraz a rating of 97 points:
"Estate-grown, destemmed and crushed, fermented in closed tanks, matured in French oak (30% new) for 12 months. The inky depths of the colour, of the smoking bouquet, the endless layers of the omnibus of black fruits, licorice, the voluminous but soft folds of tannins are exceptional. You need to give it a bare minimum of 20 years to lose its puppy fat, another decade its adolescence and then you will have 30 years to enjoy the mature wine that awaits. Buy some for your grand or god children, and hope to nick a glass when they aren't looking."

The wine is certainly powerful, but it can be enjoyed now without it being infanticide (of the wine, not your grandchildren!)

Price $45

Chardonnay 2017

Tarrahill was awarded the Yarra Valley Chardonnay Winery of the Year at the Melbourne International Wine Competition 2018 for the Chardonnay 2016.

The Chardonnay 2017 is similar in style, but with more upfront fruit. There is good acidity to keep it crisp with green apple tang.  A delightful summer wine which will develop complexity over its long life.

Price:  $30

Le Savant label 2017.jpg

Le Savant 2017

Le Savant 2016 was awarded 96 pts by James Halliday.

The 2017 has similar deep rich flavours to the 2016, with layers of dark fruit, chocolate and spices. It  is built to last and will reward time in the cellar. The 2017 Le Savant is Cabernet Sauvignon with around 10% Shiraz.

Price $42

Le Bȃtard 2017

This blend of Pinot Noir with a little Shiraz makes this a very enjoyable wine, both on its own or with a wide range of foods.  Upfront bright fruit with the backbone of luscious dark Shiraz flavours makes this a very  appealling wine for all occasions.

Price: $28

Pinot 2017 label.jpg

Tarrahill Pinot 2017

Tarrahill’s Pinot has always had considerable depth and substance. The 2017 is no exception - if anything, it is deeper, darker and more powerful than previous vintages. Should develop into a stunner in 5 to 10 years.

Price: $42

In 2018, Elizabeth and Matt produced a granddaughter, Clementine. Her birth coincided with our “baby” vines producing their first Malbec, Cabernet Franc  and Petit Verdot wines (in very small quantities).

Our first Clementine wine is a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Yummy? Yes, and so is she!

Not enough made to sell, but plenty to toast her arrival.

Grandson Theodore (Teddy) is now 18 months old. His birth wine is a rose to match his fiery red locks.

This vintage the rose is made from Cabernet Franc with a little Shiraz to give it the energy of its namesake.

Again, too little made to sell - just for tastings and for family and friends.
